  • Amazing Grace (2001) (with optional chorus or soloists) a version of this popular hymn was commissioned by the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra as part of a "9/11" concert for the City of Columbia. (Numerous other arrangements are available. See The Jazz Guy.)
  • Overture 1801-2001 (2001) written for the USC Bicentennial celebration and premiered by the USC Orchestra, Donald Portnoy conducting. 7 1/2 min.
  • Mark Twain Remarks (2000) (with male chorus), a work in four movements on Mark Twain texts premiered on the Philharmonic's March 2001 subscription masterworks series. It was commissioned by the Palmetto Mastersingers and the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra. 30 min.
  • Streets of Laredo Variations (2000) for cello solo with string orchestra was commissioned by the Kerrville Music Foundation, Rod Kennedy, founder/director, for Doug Harman, cello, and David Amram conducting the Festival Orchestra. "Streets" was also featured at the 2001 USC Conductors Institute with Dr. Robert Jesselson, soloist. 12 min.
  • Fanfare's Last Stand (2000) commissioned by the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, Nicholas Smith, conductor. 3 min.
  • Low-Country Hauntings (1999) (four movements) commissioned by the Lowcountry Heritage Society and performed by the USC Symphony Orchestra, Donald Portnoy conducting, at the Koger Center in Columbia and at the College of Charleston. 20+ min.
  • October Collection (1999) (four movements) premiered by the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, Nicholas Smith conducting, in Columbia and at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. 25 min.
  • Paraph for Clarinet and Orchestra (1996) a single movement work recorded by the Warsaw (Poland) Philharmonic with Richard Stoltzman, clarinet, Jerzy Swoboda conducting. This recording is due to be released soon on the MMC label. Clarinetist Douglas Graham (who is also featured on CD "Studio Time" -- see The Jazz Guy page) has performed the work a number of times with the Conductor's Institute Orchestra, the USC Orchestra (with Donald Portnoy), and the Florence (SC) Orchestra (Benjamin Woods conducting). 12 min.
